Harvest #1

Purposefully disjointed - Lieberman feeds pieces of a whole in issue 1 (of 5) - and strongly compelling, Harvest introduces the archetypal fuck-up in the form of Dr. Benjamin Dane, alcoholic, semi-professional drug user, surgeon. That is until he lets a woman die in theatre. However, nothing is ever so bad that it can’t get worse and he becomes tangled with organ harvesters, on whom it seems he wants revenge. Lorimer’s artwork impresses, he handles the visceral and mundane deftly, although the issue struggles with balancing plot and introducing characters. Structurally it verges on unsound. However, it makes the cut.
